Aquarius as the rising sign
With Aquarius rising you tend to think independently and care about people and ideas beyond yourself. You bring fresh views; staying warm in close bonds keeps you connected.
The nature of Aquarius
Aquarius is a Air sign of Fixed (Sthira) nature, ruled by Saturn. Its symbol is the water-bearer, and classically it relates to the calves/ankles and the west.
Kumbha personality
Kumbha people are independent, humane and inventive. Ruled by Saturn, they think in systems and care about society. Detachment and stubborn idealism are their usual challenges.
Kumbha at work
Technology, science, research, social work, aviation, engineering and reform-minded organisations suit their outlook.
Kumbha in relationships
They value friendship and mental connection in a partner. Mithuna and Tula share their airy temperament.
Kumbha and health
Kumbha governs the calves, ankles and circulation; tradition advises care with blood circulation and the nerves.
Nakshatras inside Aquarius
The Nakshatras that fall in Aquarius are Dhanishta, Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada. Your Moon's exact star inside the sign refines everything said about Aquarius.
Moon sign, rising sign and Sun sign
In Indian astrology the Rashi usually means the Moon sign, the sign the Moon occupied at birth, and it is the sign used for daily horoscopes, Sade Sati and marriage matching. The rising sign (Lagna) describes body and temperament, and the Sun sign describes purpose. All three can be different, and the sidereal zodiac used here usually places them one sign earlier than Western astrology.
Using Aquarius in matching and timing
Rasi Porutham compares the two Moon signs in a match by counting from one to the other; some counts are considered harmonious and others need care. Saturn's transit over the sign before, over and after Aquarius forms Sade Sati for people with this Moon sign. The compatibility table on this page links to a detailed page for every pairing.
