Wellbeing

Wellbeing and the planets: a traditional view

Jyotisha and Ayurveda grew up side by side, and both see the body and mind as part of a larger rhythm. This page explains how the chart is traditionally read for constitution and daily habits, and offers simple practices linked to the planets and the seasons.

Planets and the body

Classical texts give each planet a link to the body: the Sun to vitality and the eyes, the Moon to the mind and fluids, Mars to energy and blood, Mercury to the nerves and skin, Jupiter to growth and the liver, Venus to the reproductive system and pleasure, and Saturn to the bones, joints and endurance. The sixth house is read for day to day health and the eighth for long-term resilience.

Doshas and signs

Ayurveda describes three Doshas: Vata of air and space, Pitta of fire and water, and Kapha of water and earth. Fire signs and the Sun and Mars lean to Pitta; air signs, Saturn and Mercury to Vata; water and earth signs, the Moon and Jupiter to Kapha. The Ascendant and Moon together suggest your natural constitution.

Seasons

The six Ritus, Vasanta, Grishma, Varsha, Sharad, Hemanta and Shishira, each call for different food and habits. Spring clears Kapha, summer cools Pitta, the rains calm Vata.

Simple practices

Waking before sunrise, warm water in the morning, a regular meal time, a walk after meals and sleep before ten at night are the foundations. Surya Namaskara for the Sun, Chandra Namaskara for the Moon and alternate nostril breathing for balance are suited to most people.

Mind and the Moon

The Moon's condition in the chart and its daily transit are read for mood. On days when the Moon passes your eighth sign, keep the day lighter and allow more rest.

A clear boundary

Astrology and Ayurveda offer a traditional lens on habits and balance. For any medical concern, see a qualified doctor.

Your wellbeing notes

With your chart saved, the page shows your likely constitution, the planets to support, and a few practices suited to the current season.

Reading your constitution

The Ascendant and its lord show the body, and the Moon the mind. A Leo Ascendant with the Sun strong suggests warmth and Pitta; a Capricorn Ascendant with Saturn prominent suggests a lean frame and Vata; a Cancer Ascendant with a strong Moon suggests a steady build and Kapha. These are starting points that an Ayurvedic practitioner would confirm through pulse and observation.
