Mars and the Water element
Mars in a water sign is energy held beneath the surface. Feelings run strong and protective, and the native defends family and loved ones fiercely. Classical texts describe this as fire under water, slow to show and long to cool. Channelled well, it gives healing skill and emotional courage; the traditional counsel is to speak hurts early rather than store them.
How Pisces shapes the pace of Mars
Pisces is a dual sign, dwiswabhava Rashi, which the tradition links to learning, adaptability and two paths at once. Mars here is flexible and resourceful, able to see both sides. Results often come through skill and versatility, and the native does well where variety is welcome.
Mars as a guest of Jupiter
Pisces is ruled by Jupiter, a natural friend of Mars in Parashara's scheme of planetary friendship. The tradition reads this as a guest in a friendly home: the planet is welcomed, and its results flow with support.
Reading a planet by sign
The sign shows how a planet expresses itself: its style, tastes and comfort. The house it occupies shows where in life that style is used, and the aspects and conjunctions it receives show who and what it works with. A planet's dignity (exalted, own sign, friendly, neutral, enemy or debilitated) tells you how easily it delivers its natural significations. Positions on these pages use the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri Ayanamsa.
Why your Ascendant changes the reading

The table on this page shows that house for each of the twelve Ascendants with a short reading, so you can see how one sign placement plays out in different charts.
