Dosha guide
Grahan Dosha (Eclipse Dosha)
Grahan Dosha is the conjunction of the Sun or the Moon with Rahu or Ketu, the two points where eclipses occur. With the Sun it is read as a challenge to confidence, authority or the relationship with the father; with the Moon it is linked with emotional ups and downs. Birth during an actual solar or lunar eclipse is considered the strongest form.

How it is formed
Surya Grahan Dosha forms when the Sun shares a sign with Rahu or Ketu; Chandra Grahan Dosha when the Moon does. The closer the degrees, the stronger the effect. Some astrologers count only conjunctions within about 12 degrees, matching the range within which a real eclipse can occur.
Typical themes
With the Sun the themes are self-belief, recognition, government matters and health of the eyes or heart. With the Moon they are mood, sleep, the mother and peace of mind. The houses involved show where these themes play out, and benefic aspects, especially from Jupiter, soften the picture considerably.
Remedies
Traditional practice includes Surya namaskar and Aditya Hridayam for the Sun, Monday worship of Shiva and Chandra mantras for the Moon, and Rahu–Ketu shanti on eclipse days. Charity and quiet spiritual practice during eclipses are widely recommended.
A Dosha is a flag, not a sentence
Classical texts mark certain combinations as Doshas because they can strain a life area. Most have cancellation rules, and their effect depends on the strength of the planets involved and the periods you run. Read a Dosha as a reason to look more closely at the chart, not as a verdict.
